DJI Mini 3 Pro with RC-N1 Controller Overview

Mini 3 Pro drone from DJI is a new addition to the Mini series of drones from the infamous company. Improving on the Mini 2, the Mini 3 Pro introduces a tri-directional obstacle avoidance system to help avoid collisions by detecting and helping the drone avoid obstacles when in flight. It has also improved on the video quality with the ability to shoot videos at 4K/60fps and 1080p/120fps slow motion while it’s raw stills can be captured at extremely hi-res 48MP.

The flight time has also be slightly improved to 34 minutes or longer with a separately available Plus battery. Just like other drones in the Mini series, Mini 3 Pro is also lightweight (249g) and can foldinto a small package for easy and fast travels while planning for professional or personal adventures.

DJI RC-N1 Remote Controller

The DJI RC-N1 remote controller is one that requires the use of a compatible smartphone to provide for interactive piloting. From your phone’s screen, you can view the drone’s footage at 1080p30 resolution and enjoy smooth realtime telemetry from up to 12km (7.5 miles) away as a result of DJI’s dual-band OcuSync 3 technology, now in Mini 3 Pro drones. The controller’s holder can support phones that are up to 7.1″ wide and comes with lightning, micro-USB and USB Type-C cables for connection.

For safe flights, the Mini 3 Pro features a tri-directional obstacle avoidance sensor system and APAS 4.0 (Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems) technology. It has downward, forward and backward sensors with dual-vision and coupled with the APAS 4.0 technology to detect and avoid obstacles when the drone is in flight. The drone’s camera has a 1/1.3″ sensor with HDR support, dual native ISO, an f/1.7 aperture, and large 2.4μm pixels. With these features, Mini 3 Pro is able to deliver high quality footage in both well-lit and lowly-lit environments. Video footage can be recorded at up to 4K/60, slow motion at Full HD 1080p/120 fps and raw stills at up to 48MP. It also offers the D-Cinelike Color mode, which supplies you with more color information that can help make post-flight editing more flexible.

Another feature addition to this drone is the ability of the camera gimbal to rotate for low-angle recording as well to enable for true vertical shooting. It works by rotating 90° to switch from portait to landscape orientations and vice versa. With an upgraded Intelligent Flight Battery’s capacity and combined with larger propellers and an aerodynamic body tilt, the Mini 3 Pro has an increased flight time with 34 minutes. Additionally, you can get 47 minutes of flight time with a separately available Intelligent Flight Battery Plus.
